What is the method for eliminating the Google update warning?
I have Chrome set to avoid automatic updates, yet the pop-up appears when loading. I don’t want it to happen regularly—especially since I update manually. I’ve tried several steps:
1) Turned off startup entries in msconfig
2) Disabled all Chrome update entries in services
3) Disabled any Chrome update entries in Task Scheduler
4) Changed the names of Google Update folders in Program Files (86) by adding ".old" to the names (no matching folder found in Users)
5) Blocked all update.exe files in my BitDefender firewall
Still, the pop-up shows up each time. Any other suggestions?
What is the point of risking an insecure browser while continuing your task?
There are some circumstances that might help clarify things:
1) I don’t browse the web outside a sandbox. I keep it set to clear or delete whenever the browser is closed.
2) Chrome isn’t my main browser; I use it only as a backup, so it likely doesn’t open often—usually just once a month, if at all.
3) Chrome and Firefox tend to push updates every few weeks (sometimes multiple times a month). I’ve experienced cases where after a fresh install, the app asked for an update again within two days. I understand this is intentional because minor updates are released periodically, not always critical fixes. Considering I only use it once a month, this means I need to update the app every time I load it.
4) I’d also like people to think about how others might view this if they didn’t have control over it—they’d probably find many articles explaining similar steps. Even Windows encourages users to pause updates and notifications. I’m not advocating for that, but offering alternatives is helpful.

...is there a method to remove this notice that repeatedly asks for the version number? That’s all I really need.
Tap the profile icon or initial settings notifications at the top right. Beside the categories you wish to disable, select Turn off. This should be the method for managing all Google notifications.
Wouldn't it be easier if there was a simpler option? Thanks for the idea, but there isn't one for this update alert (even though updates are turned off). It keeps reminding me I'm not on the newest version and can't update. That's exactly what I prefer—just avoid seeing this message.
The nearest solution is disabling site notifications, which I've already done. This applies to other sites as well.
