I need to use the stock cooler for my i5-6500 and see if I can push it a bit higher. I'm curious about the limits.

I need to consider using the stock cooler for my i5-6500 and see if I can push it a bit. It's not unlocked, so I'll have to adjust the BIOS and increase the bus speed. Just a reminder, doing this will also overclock the RAM, though you might be able to lower it manually. Could you let me know what brand and model of your motherboard is?

The stock cooler operates on the same basic idea as the top-tier air coolers. The main constraint is temperature, so ensure it stays within the safe limits set during production. Avoid applying excessive voltage until improved cooling is achieved.

The i5 6500 model is not unlocked, and it cannot be overclocked from the factory. Are you running a custom BIOS to enable this? If so, I wouldn't anticipate more than a 3-4% increase before you encounter thermal issues.
