You can push your I7-8700K further with the NH-D15S cooler, reaching temperatures as low as 30°C idle and 50-55°C under load without compromising safety.
With that cooler you'll probably hit voltage limits before temp limits, but as with OC on any cpu the actual limit is upto the individual cpu itself. Silicon lottery. I have a 3570k that will not remain stable at 4.4GHz or higher (no matter what voltage) and a 3770k (same cpu+HT) that sits comfortably at 4.9GHz @1.32v.
4.8GHz, probably.
4.9GHz, mebe.
5.0GHz, probably not
5.1GHz, it's a miracle !
Are your stock configurations still active? The cores should be stable around 4.7Ghz, which usually means just enabling MCE or syncing all cores. I've noticed some users pushing it to 4.8Ghz with all cores on air before. Only you can confirm the exact setting. As you raise voltage to boost clocks, you'll notice a rise in temperature. The CPU remains reliable up to about 90°C, but keeping it around mid-80s during peak operation is ideal for regular use. The surrounding environment and the machine's cooling system also play a role.

The cooler should support the i7's power requirements while maintaining stable voltage levels. You might be able to adjust the VCCIN slightly higher.
