What is the highest safe voltage for the core voltage on an FX 8120?
I'm trying to see if it's okay to push the voltage even higher than 1.500v.
I adjusted the voltage to a safer range, which resolved the issue with the windows crashing. Now it's set at approximately 1.475.
It relies on the silicon selection and your overall hardware setup. AMD recommends staying under 1.475, yet some have exceeded 1.55. Cooling an AM3+ CPU at that point and beyond poses significant difficulties. Any OS issues would make it even less viable.
Safe? To the absolute minimum. FX cpus run at around 62°C, which can't be measured directly with standard tools. You must rely on AMD Overdrive to maintain some thermal buffer. Although it doesn't provide a precise temperature reading, it offers insight into the available thermal capacity under current conditions.
