I'm just starting out with PCs that have the build finished, featuring 8GB RAM, Pentium G4560 (hyperthreaded), and a compact GTX 1050 Ti.

Whatever you feel comfortable with. Also, with these newer cards, just whatever it can handle without glitching.
If you're gonna do it, it will get temp throttled anyways if it does get too hot.
There's no right answer.
If you want, tweak it and come back and post results. Someone would be likely to comment on if they think you might have more head room.
