You need a more powerful GPU, not just a cheaper CPU. Also, opt for a 3600 over 3600X because it’s the same processor but with a factory boost.

Midrange? That sounds like an i5 10600k, actually. Honestly, the Ryzen performs better in most aspects.

The top choice is 10600K, it's only worthwhile if you're after a deceb M-ATX board since AMD's partners here are on the edge of legal trouble... Edit: Nice nods to MSI B450m Mortar and ASRock X570m Pro4... No other boards stand out!

They offer solid mATX options from MSI for the PGA 1331. The mortar performs well with a 3-stage 6+2 power delivery system, which I’m confident is great.
