What is the black foil or tape that covers parts of the laptop's motherboard?
Hi,
On my Dell Inspiron 5770 Laptop I'm swapping the motherboard.
I purchased a used one but noticed it lacks the black foil covering certain parts, such as the graphics card chip.
The attached images show the correct layout with the missing black foil, especially near the heatsink metal tube.
Could you tell me what this foil is used for? Is it for heat dissipation or electrical insulation?

The plastic covers with adhesives on certain areas are designed to avoid parts from coming into contact and short circuits. The tape mentioned is specifically tailored for the laptop you're using. If you're swapping out the motherboard, the previous one should have the black film that can be easily moved over.
You seem to require the motherboard without the option to swap out the black foil.
