What is the best wa to ship a Motherboard?
I’m selling a component from my old prebuilt setup. Because it was a prebuilt unit, I don’t have the original packaging for the parts. I’ve managed to acquire some anti-static bags, but I still lack the protective plastic piece that keeps the pins in the socket (Intel Z97). There are only five days left until the auction ends and I need to ship it. Do you have any suggestions on how to replace it? Could a cardboard cover with tape work as a temporary solution?
Realistically, if it's only the motherboard, you probably don't need to guard the socket. You could just leave it as is. It seems like there won't be any other components in the package.
You received a motherboard with the protective cover missing during shipping. The cushioning material became stuck inside the socket, causing damage to the pins.
I'm planning to secure it with bubble wrap and an anti-static bag for safety. Just to be cautious. The buyer might not be very pleased if it arrives without any protection.
It managed to bypass the antistatic bag through some clever method.
It’s hard not to wonder what would happen if everything was secured correctly...
Ignoring the socket is risky, no matter the situation. Those pins are extremely delicate.
If it's a good quality bag, I'm not sure how someone would damage a proper antistatic one, particularly when it's tightly sealed to prevent any shifting.
Thanks to all the helpers. I placed some cardboard near the socket, it’s inside an anti-static bag, and I’ll cover it with bubble wrap.
