They intend to utilize the VPN service for secure online access. A static IP address would allow them to set up their own dedicated VPN server.

Well recently we have had people trying to DDoS our modem which i can only assume is to attempt to gain secure information like card transaction data and whatever else they could possibly gain. My store has recently been growing in its online community so we are becoming a bigger target for hackers. I definitely dont know a lot about networking, i just assume this is definitely something we need.

Considered setting up my own VPN, but doubted whether my upload speed meets the requirements based on recent information.

It seems a firewall would be more beneficial than relying solely on a VPN for protection.

It's a standard antivirus or firewall software, either running on your computer or as a dedicated hardware device.

Hardware solutions can only partially mask your IP address, yet they still provide some level of protection. This is essentially what a VPN offers. A firewall serves to prevent unauthorized access and block intrusions into your network. There are many well-known options such as Sonicwall or Cisco ASA 5505 devices. Setting them up demands some networking expertise, but they offer strong defense against network threats.
