What is the best recording software?
I usually rely on OBS for streaming, but for capturing videos—whether game clips or other desktop content—I prefer Shadowplay. I never considered its quality was poor at high settings. It’s just a habit formed when my old CPU struggled with gaming and recording together. When recording with friends via Skype, I use DXtory; the Virtual Audio Cable’s channel separation feature is essential and greatly simplifies editing.
OBS has integrated Shadowplay's NVENC encoder prior to its official release.
Whenever I tried the NVENC encoder, it didn’t behave like Shadowplay. Performance improvements were always obvious, and handling my SLI configuration was poor. It might have been updated since the last time I used it, but since it only captured half of my frames and reduced my FPS by at least ten, I’ve decided to skip it.
Don't bother searching your support forum when there are other solid alternatives that suit you well.
I previously relied on obs, but it doesn't work well on my specific computer.
Currently I rely on shadowplay, though in Titanfall it causes issues. It works well, but isn't the optimal choice.
