WPS office is amazing. http://www.wps.com/ Unfortunately, they don't currently support OS X if that's what you're running. To me Libreoffice and Openoffice always feel a bit unpolished, and sometimes have issues if you have to trade files with someone who uses MS office. I do use both Libreoffice (OS X) and WPS (Windows/Linux) on at least a weekly basis and greatly prefer WPS.

I've tried WPS, Libre, and Calligra Office. I believe WPS is among the better options, though I prefer Libre.

It doesn't work for everyone. I attend a small private school and can't get free Office. Still, it doesn't really matter since four years ago I purchased a triple-license for Office 2010 Home & Student.
