What is better and why? Mac OSX, Windows or Lunix
Linux offers flexibility and security while being open source. Macs provide ease of use with a pleasant interface. Chrome OS is functional but not very secure. Windows suits gaming needs but isn't ideal for privacy. I prefer Linux for its privacy benefits, though I rely on Windows for certain games.
OSX appears more restricted than Linux because it relies heavily on community-developed code, whereas much of Linux’s functionality stems from open-source contributions. If a comparable developer group existed for OSX, it would be viewed as equally transparent. The idea of an "open" system is often misunderstood by those unfamiliar with the software they use.
I've used both Linux and Windows extensively, which makes it hard to choose. Linux seems to be in an early stage, while Windows feels more stable. That's why I lean toward Windows.
They each have their own strengths, but OSX remains the most problematic. Windows stands out due to its extensive support and wide range of compatible applications. Linux shines as it likely evolves into something more robust. As Linux gains more users, companies and developers will increasingly create software for it, especially in gaming. However, more gaming features may become necessary.
Linux offers complete freedom to do whatever you wish. It provides plenty of chances to master system troubleshooting. OSX has its perks, but the closed-source sections limit its appeal. The only proprietary parts in Linux are custom drivers for certain hardware, which are rare. Most drivers come from the kernel itself. Windows is mainly reserved for gaming. I use a dual-boot setup infrequently, mostly just for fun. Guild Wars 2 performs well with Wine, even if it sometimes has hiccups. Wine keeps getting better, and games are being adapted to Linux quickly, so it’s possible GW2 could have a native client soon.
