Hello, the manufacturer recommends using a PDU during setup for your new computer due to its 1000 watt power supply. This is not something I was familiar with before.

I also reviewed the setup guide I came across. Now I understand its function and how it distributes power uniformly across the equipment. I’m still unsure why a 1000 watt power supply is necessary for a personal home computer.

It is a Dell Xps equipped with an Intel I9 13th Gen processor and a Nvidia 4070 graphics card.

It seems like you're dealing with a Dell product that uses only 12V components everywhere. A 750W unit should work, but if Dell claims it's 1000W, you'll receive the full 1000W.

When they mention using it with a PDU since it's 1000 watts, you should consider doing this. This is something I've never come across before when working with a home personal computer.

The only thing I can think of is that PDU means power distribution unit, though if they mean PSU as a PDU I'd get really mixed up.

Likely a mistake. The D is adjacent to the S on the keyboard.
