Still, I’m planning to buy a new budget computer this spring and need help figuring out how to optimize Minecraft and other games on it. As someone who plays games like Minecraft and Sims, I’m unsure whether I should prioritize CPU, GPU, or RAM. Ideally, if I could spend more, I’d get the best of all three. Right now, I’m using a Dell Inspiron with an i3 processor and 4GB RAM. This setup should let me reach entry-level performance and enjoy Minecraft at around 10–30 frames per second on low settings. My background: playing Minecraft on a GTX760 without extra texture packs or Optifine usually works fine at 120/144Hz 1080p, as long as you don’t have the game limiting its own frame rate (the default video slider is set to 60fps). Remove Optifine and adjust settings to your preference—like changing void fog or potion effects—and the possibilities are endless.
