Am still learning so please excuse any stupid lol,
Built in 2021 my first setup after having a prebuilt before (nothing carried over build was all fresh) I am now starting to notice a lot of performance issues in different games, mostly newer titles but the performance can vary. From what i can tell/researched online with my setup i have a pretty noticeable CPU bottleneck, and unfortunately the MOBO i chose doesn't seem to leave me with any "noticeable" difference upgrades to make (far as i can tell anyways if i am wrong please correct me lol) So i am wondering what my best option would be, i am ASSUMING the best path would be to upgrade the MOBO so i can then upgrade other components/swap what is compatible over, but how would i go about knowing what would be compatible with what and just how much would i have to full out replace to get the performance I'd like or if there is a better option that i am not aware of. >Tried using PC part picker to get an idea of what is compatable with what but theres so many choices its kinda overwhelming to know where to start looking.
Currently running a 3 monitor setup, at 144hz which is stable in most of the games i play regularly (mostly older mmo's, FFXIV, WoW >However i can only run on medium settings) But i find alot of titles struggling to even hold 60fps in some games, Remnant 2 is my biggest problem i am noticing, even locking it down to 30fps and putting on all potato settings the game will struggle to be stable and stutter once combat starts going.
///Things i have tried> XMP Off/On (Things run better when on)
Side monitors off on more demanding games > Does not really help anything.
Swapping Refresh rates of side monitors, Some games run fine, others do not. (side monitors are for media/chat/research so technically i don't NEED them running at 144hz but I've noticed things run smoother overall if everything is just at the same, correct/advice if I'm wrong) (ditching google chrome has helped immensely at least)
Target is ideally 144hz, with bluetooth/wifi, overclocking isnt really a thing i use so if its there its a bonus if i ever dabble i suppose but isn't a deciding factor
Any suggestions/info would be greatly appreciated

the first thing i want to ask is whether you tracked your gpu vram consumption. for a triple 1080p display setup, the memory demand could exceed 8gb. if that’s accurate, an rx7800xt might help resolve the problem.

you can easily verify this by playing games in a single window and seeing if performance improves.
your cpu and mobo are nearing the end of their lifespan. i recommend waiting until you can upgrade to something like 7800x3d with a b650 motherboard.

Tested with every monitor active, peak VRAM reached around 5300. The main card hit 4800, showing only minor variation in some tougher titles like Remnant 2 and Darktide 40k.

i would recommend comparing your system's performance to devices like the 5600X or your own CPU model. both are quite similar. the reason i suggest this is you're not running the latest AAA games, and you exceed the recommended specs for Remnant 2. it's also hard to say you noticed a difference when playing without chrome, even with 32gb ram. how many tabs are you keeping open? i just want to mention that with a 10900k and a 3070, achieving 60fps shouldn't be a problem in FFXIV, WoW, or Remnant 2.

What is the display resolution? It might be 1080p if that's the case.

60fps works well in wow and ffxiv unless you're in a crowded area where performance drops quickly. Remnant 2 struggles with even 30 frames per second, causing stutters and freezing screens or heavy lag. I believe the Chrome problem was mainly related to YouTube. Now that I'm checking it out, most videos play smoothly at 1080p auto, though dropping to 720 seems less disruptive.

My primary display is set at 2560x1440 with 144hz, while the sides are both 1920x1080 at 144hz. I'm having trouble getting the 1080p HD/UHD settings to appear properly. If I try different screen resolutions, they just turn black and stay that way until Windows fixes it. I've lowered them to 60 or 72 but didn't notice much improvement in performance, though the image looks much worse visually—very jagged. My main monitor also shows a lot of ghosting, which might be contributing to the issue.
