What headset should I purchase for first-person shooter games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and PUBG?
I’ve decided it's time to purchase a new gaming headset. I've been using an older one for about two years, though. I play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive regularly and my teammates often report hearing footsteps coming from incredibly distant locations—for instance, on the A site of CSGO’s Dust 2 map, from a long distance to the entrance just before the stairs in the short area, which is unbelievable, or from A site to mid, similar to how Dhell describes it. I’ve been asking around and people suggest HyperX Cloud 2 or simply Hyperx, and Steelseries. I’m unsure which is superior, so I would appreciate any advice, keeping in mind my budget is capped at $100. Thank you for your assistance!
I possess the HyperX Cloud II headphones, and I want to share that they are exceptionally impressive, particularly when playing competitive video games. They incorporate a simulated 7.1 surround sound experience, though it doesn’t precisely replicate true 7.1 audio.
The Kotion Each headset proved to be a remarkably good option for gaming, films, and audio, with its microphone quality exceeding expectations at an affordable cost. It was also notably comfortable.

The Cloud IIs present a dependable option, and have done so since their introduction.
It’s difficult to find a better value for $100.
Experience gaming with the Razer Kraken Tournament Edition Headset, designed specifically for competitive First-Person Shooter games. This headset boasts a revolutionary Game/Chat Balance, allowing you to customize the audio levels between in-game sounds and voice communication for an ideal blend of engagement and clear conversation. Plus, it includes Bass Control with 17 distinct settings, letting you personalize the depth of sound to your preference.
These HyperX Cloud II headphones are truly excellent, particularly for competitive gaming. They feature a simulated 7.1 surround sound experience, which enhances audio awareness and allows you to discern subtle sounds in games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or Rainbow Six Siege. I suggest disabling the 7.1 surround sound feature when listening to music, as it can be somewhat irritating. The microphone performs adequately, but isn’t exceptional – it simply functions effectively. Hopefully, this information was useful.
When you listen to music, you usually disable the 7.1 system by pressing a button, isn't that right? Now, I simply require locating a headset capable of providing 7.1 surround sound; my current headphones were designed for use with a PlayStation 4 originally.
There’s a device that manages audio for your headphones and microphone, featuring a 7.1 button. When activated, it turns red, indicating that it’s on. I deactivate it when listening to music, but keep it active during gaming because it significantly enhances the gaming experience. Regarding your previous inquiry, this headset utilizes a simulated 7.1 sound – it’s not true 7.1, which provides a wider auditory spectrum in games. Furthermore, it’s compatible with PlayStation 4 consoles, though true 7.1 audio isn't available when used on those systems.
These audio experiences are “simulated 7.1,” and the internal sound processor mimics a seven-channel configuration to create an impression of spatial audio. This works effectively because headphones (a two-speaker system) cannot physically support a traditional seven-channel arrangement, possessing only two speakers. The simulated 7.1 performs admirably in scenarios like these, even though some critics express reservations about it.
Does any other headset model feature this characteristic? Would it be available with brands besides HyperX? If so, which one and what’s the distinction between the HyperX Cloud 2 and the HyperX Alpha? There are numerous HyperX headsets in a similar price range – which one would be most suitable for my requirements? Thank you for your assistance!
