What happens in the boot loop once the GPU is removed?
Hi everyone,
I swapped my GTX 980ti to a newer system. Now the old machine won’t start properly—it spins the case fan, lights flicker, and everything freezes in seconds. It keeps looping through boot attempts. The CPU has integrated graphics, but other GPUs didn’t help. I’m not keeping it because I’ve already managed cables in my newer setup. Could this be a problem? What should I do? I just took out the old card. This machine still worked well for ten years.
Thanks in advance.

For troubleshooting discussions, it's standard to share your complete system details. Provide specifications in the following format:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
Include the PSU age along with its make and model. Also, note the current BIOS version for your motherboard.
You might consider testing with a single RAM stick in either slot to see if it improves performance. For curiosity, did you forcefully remove the GPU from the PCIe slot? It could be helpful to check the slot for any warping.
The previous instance when it functioned properly was [insert date], and everything worked as expected.
