I’m considering purchasing a new graphics card for two main purposes: high-performance gaming at 1080p and AI/ML tasks. I’ve assembled a budget-friendly setup and am struggling to decide between the Intel Arc B580 and the Intel Arc A770 (16GB). My current configuration includes an i5-12400F CPU, MSI H610M-E DDR4 motherboard, 32GB DDR4 RAM, a 2TB WD Blue SSD, and a Corsair HXi 750W power supply. Initially, I was leaning toward the A770, especially its Intel Limited Edition model, valuing both performance and historical significance. However, the B580 is now available locally and shows about 10–15% better benchmarks in gaming situations. It’s also more energy-efficient as a newer model. In AI/ML workloads, reports suggest the B580 can be up to 100% faster in certain tests. This makes me question the A770, even though I wanted that card. Another factor is VRAM: 12GB on the B580 might suffice for future-proofing, while the A770’s 16GB could offer more headroom. Prices are $390 for the B580 and $350 for the A770. My main concerns are whether the extra $40 is justified and if 12GB VRAM will keep up with upcoming games and tasks. Ultimately, I need to weigh these points before deciding which card suits my needs best.

B580 is definitely worth considering
offers reduced power consumption and improved driver compatibility
but might require a more affordable price point

I was thinking of purchasing this, but I'm now looking at a used AMD RX6700 XT for around $220.
