Consider the options you have. For your budget of 12,700k, look at four choices: a 32GB kit with 3600MHz, a 16GB model at 3600MHz, a 16GB at 3200MHz, and a 16GB RGB at 3600MHz. The most expensive one is £120 for RGB, while the cheaper ones are around £55–£58. Since you plan to upgrade later and need good timing, a 32GB 3600MHz kit seems like the best balance of performance and future flexibility.

You'll use this PC for gaming or video editing. For gaming, CL16 works well as it offers quicker response times compared to CL18. If you aim for top performance, choose the CL14 Corsair model. For future upgrades, opting for Ballistix RAM is recommended since mismatched RAM can cause issues.

Retrieve Corsair Vengeance. Avoid repeating the same question multiple times; the earlier topic will be deleted.

Check out these gaming peripherals: the Crucial Ballistix and Corsair Vengeance 3600 MHz memory modules. Both are designed for high-performance setups.

I’m considering swapping to a 16GB model for a more affordable option, like the Corsair Vengeance, even though it’s not the top choice. The Patriot Viper offers 3600mhz CL15 and would be suitable for gaming and streaming at around £120 without needing a 32GB model.

You might want to consider the Viper Cl15 if you're looking for a more affordable option.

For gaming and streaming purposes, 16GB is more than sufficient and offers minimal extra benefit for your needs. The timing gap between CL15 and CL16 is almost imperceptible, except in professional settings like rendering or 3D modeling where RAM speed matters more. In short, faster RAM boosts gameplay, while lower speeds mainly affect rendering and editing tasks. If you can afford it, opting for a 32GB system from the start is wise. Choose quality or go dual-boot. It’s hard to argue against the Viper CL15 if you’re already committed.

I'm not sure I'd agree with that based on all the memory testing videos I've watched. It seems latency matters more than anything else, especially for gaming. For example, a 3600 cl16 setup will probably perform similarly to a 3200 cl14 when it comes to actual gameplay lag. I've seen many benchmarks showing that a 3200 cl14 often outperforms most 3600 kits because of its lower real-world latency. The only benefit of higher MHz is more bandwidth, which usually isn't a big deal in gaming but can matter more for productivity work. Unless you're using Ryzen and it's tied to RAM speed, that's the main point.

Top option available, usually handles ~4600-5000 cl18 when tuned that way, but I believe you should go easy on it to 4000 cl16 (begin at 1.5v, reduce if needed), even if it's a bit rough they’ll destroy everything xD
