Initially it's not possible to combine them. With a 940MX you have the freedom to do almost anything, but you should expect to reduce settings in later titles.

There isn't a single "total GPU memory" concept, and integrated graphics include their own VRAM. That explanation makes sense. For most games, it works fine, but for demanding titles you might want to look at LowSpecGamer.
