You're looking to dive into the Assassin's Creed series, but need guidance on which titles to begin with and which to avoid. I'll help you figure that out. Let me know your preferences!

Pretty sure Black Flag (4) was still decent. Not sure about the third game

The top tale comes first, though I loved AC2 the most. That makes it a solid beginning as well.

Start with the initial title. Jump over every other Assassin's Creed game until reaching Black Flag. Once you're there, you're finished. You've seen the highlights and skipped the dull ones. Let me replay that for you—the ones you should try first. The original Assassin's Creed was a fresh take on story and play, introducing the pirate mechanic. That was a big change from previous entries. I'm sure there are more 'Nope' moments, but I stopped counting as single-player games became the standard.

First comes a new perspective on the topic. Then details emerge to clarify the point. Next, a shift in focus highlights key aspects. Following that, additional points are presented for completeness.

I'll begin with the second one, Ezio triology. I read about the first story before that. It felt quite repetitive, even though I played through it fully. I haven't played Black Flag or Rogue yet, but Unity is still on my backlog. If you plan to play these in a row, you might get bored because they're mostly similar, except perhaps for naval combat in the later games.

Start with the first skip, then the second one. Go through the revelations since it wraps up Ezio and Altieri's tale. (The Brotherhood section is just extra fluff) If you're really into the game, try AC3—it mixes things up a lot but the story wasn't great. 4 was decent, but AC Rouge felt similar yet improved in every aspect, so save that one. Skip the rest.
