What error occurred with ACPI_BIOS? What should I do?
Yesterday morning I started my PC upgrade by swapping the graphics card and CPU, and adding an M.2 drive for Windows 10. Everything worked smoothly until I tried to install Windows 10 via USB. It takes 10-15 seconds to boot, but then the system freezes and shows a BSOD with the error code ACPI_BIOS_ERROR. I’ve confirmed my BIOS is current, only the M.2 is connected, and my RAM matches the board specs. So far, I haven’t tried any other fixes. The graphics card I’m using is the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact paired with a Ryzen 5 5600x. I have 32GB of 3200MHz memory (two sticks) and a 650W Seasonic power supply, along with a WD BLACK SN850 500GB NVMe M.2 drive. Any assistance would be very helpful!
Also consider Windows 11. You might want to create a new ISO using the media creation tool, as I've noticed it can fail sometimes.
The M.2 is a WD Black SN850 with 500GB storage. I can perform a CMOS reset and then retrieve the test outcomes.
I haven’t considered using w11 much because of the negative feedback about gaming performance, especially in competitive FPS titles. W10 appears to be a better choice. Still, I’ll attempt to download w11 as well. For ISO files, I’m just installing the installer via USB drive instead of obtaining an ISO. Does the method I choose really make a difference?
Currently we are checking if the software or hardware relies on the Microsoft own Windows Media Creation Tool to obtain the latest and most stable version here on Windows 10 https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209 and Windows 11 https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2156295
