As a project I want to upgrade my ancient Acer Aspire One KAV60/D250 a bit. The RAM and drive are both easily user-replacable at the bottom, but there is a third compartment, meant to easily accessed like the other two with an empty M.2 slot. What exactly is it for, given how this laptop is way before the era of NVMe SSDs, and it doesn't appear to have the layout for a slot that's meant for SATA M.2 drives. Doesn't appear to be for WiFi either as there is already a WiFi card installed deeper in the model. Again, this was clearly meant to be something a user would be able to quickly install themselves, but I can't find any info about it anywhere online.

It seems to be a link to an article about M.2 SATA slots.

Not using an M.2 connector. Likely a HDD RAM, possibly a COMM card or similar device.
