I looked up my CPU details on Intel's site and saw a TCase temperature of 72.6°C. That temperature indicates the cooling system is working, but since your CPU stays above 78°C during gaming, it might be overheating. Check your cooling solution, ensure proper airflow, and consider cleaning dust from fans or vents.

They don't believe this scenario. Intel swapped Tjunction for Tcase (or vice versa on newer chips). In the Tjunction section, Intel mentions the DTS (digital thermal sensor) on the CPU die that can be tracked to monitor temperature proximity to Tjunction. They explain that Tjunction represents the point where internal cooling systems begin reducing power use and slowing the clock to avoid overheating. Currently, the Tjunction temperature for their CPUs is about 85°C or 90°C, which is within safe limits. Still, changing the thermal paste remains a wise move!

For Intel CPUs, the maximum allowed TJ is 100°C for Zen2 and newer, while Zen/Zen+ 95°C and Zen2/3 90°C trigger a higher threshold (around 110-115°C). Intel chips throttle at 100°C and trigger at 115°C. With Ryzen processors, the official high-temp alert is 70°C. If all settings default, the CPU fan runs at full speed. The T-Case temperature is typically close to the maximum CPU temperature warning, which usually limits cooling to 75°C on modern AM4 boards.
