I checked for the Ryzen 7 5800X and saw a listing on eBay mentioning an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X desktop processor.

Understanding the details matters a lot.

It's unclear whether the lid was altered; it's possible eBay offers payment protection in the UK. If you have a fraud chip, you can file a report and receive a refund in the US.

It's great to hear you're finding value here, even on unrelated topics!

It seems the seller attempted to improve the IHS using coarse sandpaper or dragged it across smooth concrete for a distance of 20 feet. The part definitely isn't a Ryzen 5000 because the pins won’t fit in an AM4 socket. You probably noticed the disclaimer after all, but I wanted to highlight how you can point out: Why am I focusing on this? I need to finish my FFS. The font didn’t look right, so now I’m certain it wasn’t a Ryzen IHS. The biggest difference is with the number 9. Edited June 13, 2022 by Bianks84 More info

I would have thought there were no bent pins and felt content, even though it wasn’t the right post, but I still gained some knowledge.

This is precisely why fraudsters succeed.

Certainly looks fishy to me but at the same time they do say there is no actual chip under the lid. All you're paying for is the lid and a scrap piece of circuit board - A ripoff deal here.

That cost remains quite unusual and isn't favorable.

At first glance, the IHS seems too large for the PCB, and there are also the pins involved. Regardless, it doesn’t fit a Zen 3 CPU or even a 5950.
