in the most recent episode (when this was shared), Linus mentioned EA removed support for Linux. I believe it's because Linux games are handled via an app that facilitates moving titles from Windows to Linux, though it lacks a direct way to counter Anticheat. What do you think?

The straightforward point is Linus made: keeping their solution running on Linux requires expenses. Those funds don’t come from revenue on that system. Therefore the expense exceeds the gain, leading to reduced or removed support.

The main issue is that they removed both Linux and Steam OS support at the same time, even though Steam OS is a reliable platform.

The idea that simpler solutions work best applies here. For businesses this means profit. This mindset usually works for people as well, even if we often make things more complicated in our thoughts.

Android boasts a large number of users who play games, especially on desktop Linux systems with very few installations. While I’m not a developer, I’m fairly certain Android and desktop Linux differ significantly in many aspects, despite both using the same core operating system.

However, from a technical standpoint, Steam OS still exists, and many gamers use the Steam Deck, which makes it surprising that support was discontinued there.

The Android kernel stands apart from standard systems. Most devices use their own tailored kernels instead of relying on an upstream version.
