I chose this motherboard at Goodwill for just five dollars, pulling it out of its case. The USB 3.0 header shows melted plastic. I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to install a CPU there. Would you?

I wouldn't because the components appear worn as well.

I’d use a used CPU for testing. No need to invest more if it’s not worth it.
