Campaign, I don’t care about it; the storylines feel shallow and the characters are just names. There’s no real depth, and the scenarios seem vague and unweighty. The MP is decent, but without strong firearms—especially from snipers—I feel like I’m constantly getting hit. I’ve only spent around ten hours, yet the gun balance is really off, and the matchmaking is frustrating. The “choose your lobby” feature is annoying, and most lobbies have just one or two maps, none of which offer much variety. Plus, the loading times are too long—I could finish a MW3 Infected match before even getting into BF4.
I plan to earn a master tag for most weapons, which should motivate me to play more. I also want to achieve a good K/D ratio, and I'm happy I'm not alone in this goal.
It's a massive download and not many people are playing it, so I'm just holding my breath until it moves to the standard version.
I really liked the campaign. Sure, the story wasn't spectacular, but it was still enjoyable to play. I appreciated the inclusion of hit markers and scoring in singleplayer, which added a lot more immersion.
I never purchased it and I refuse to fall for their pushy marketing strategies and the initial DLC. I was already upset when BF3 Premium emerged, and I won't invest more if they keep wasting their time. The game is fundamentally flawed and seems unlikely to get a proper fix, which is why I won't engage unless it offers a guaranteed deal like BF3 did. Besides, there are several gameplay changes since BF2 and earlier that didn't sit well with me: health regeneration, rapid death chances, endless ammunition for vehicles (how can people camp in cars when they have unlimited ammo?), the single-player story mode, and no support for mods.
I don't get extra points for hitmarkers or score. What I notice are the situations where things go wrong in the game—like blowing up a dam while still on it, ignoring important messages, or someone staying too close to a C4 so they get hurt. Those moments, along with the character's unrealistic actions, really take it down.
