What CPU to buy?
I'm working on improving my PC setup. I'm unsure which CPU to purchase. I'm considering the i7 9700K but want to confirm if it's suitable. While I'm setting up my system, I'm also doing some basic Photoshop tasks. I need a processor that can handle AAA games for several years. Should I opt for the i7 or go with the i5 to save money? Or should I wait for Zen 3?
I’m used to working with Photoshop and other creative tools daily. When performance drops significantly, I switch to Intel or overclock it. However, a six-core i5 isn’t ideal for modern gaming PCs; you’d want at least an i7. While it offers some future-proofing, it’s limited in cores. My go-to picks are usually the Ryzen 5 3600 by default. If you rely heavily on Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, or use CAD/3D modeling software, I recommend a Core i9 9900K. For video editing or rendering, a Ryzen 9 3900 or 3950X works best.
