In August 2024, I purchased some components to upgrade my prebuilt PC. Unfortunately, the results have been disappointing, and in many cases, even more so than before. There might be reasons for this, or perhaps there’s a solution available.

Performance issues
New build
Regarding performance, I’m not happy with how my FPS games run after the upgrade. The editing software (Insights) I used previously doesn’t work as expected. I gradually increased the bitrate until it reached 50,000kbps, which is the highest possible. At that point, the FPS was 60 and the resolution was set to 1080p. After switching to a source, I tried using a 1440p monitor, but the PC still stutters every now and then, making the gameplay unpleasant :/

When playing games such as Valorant, Wuthering Waves, or The First Descendant, the system becomes very hot. This is unusual compared to my old PC, which rarely overheated. I’ve noticed it shutting down a few times before, which is somewhat bothersome—especially during AFK sessions or when chatting with friends.

Despite the high power consumption needed for The First Descendant at maximum graphics settings, the performance drops significantly. Watching Discord streams while playing games also noticeably affects my PC’s speed and stability. It lags and stutters, which is concerning. I’m not sure if my current setup is functioning optimally. Could you help me understand what might be going on?

I’m a bit uncertain about other specifications to share, so let me know if there’s anything specific you’d like to see!

Did you reinstall Windows on your new build? It is advised to do so, as transferring the OS from one system to another can cause issues with driver entries in the registry. The heatsink should be sufficient to keep the CPU cool; if it becomes hot, it may indicate poor performance and improper cooler placement or tension. How much paste did you apply? Sharing links directly from the computer won't work—please take a screenshot of Hwinfo and use an image hosting service like Imgur before linking.

Hello, I purchased Windows once more since the previous one was locked. I reapplied the paste again because it's been a problem since installation, but it hasn't changed much in temperature. HWinFO64 Stats

Can't detect CPU temperatures there. Try using Core Temp instead. Check if the temperature issue lies there. If needed, adjust the maximum processor state in Advanced Power Management on Windows to 99%. This may reduce turbo but could help stabilize performance.

Access Open Hwinfo using sensors just to view temperatures.

I think I just added it now. The display includes many features, but I noticed "Thermal Limit" – are there any other aspects I should be checking?

I've made the change, and it seems to not be as hot when I tried a game for a little, but will have to test it more when I have time over a longer duration as I normally would play, and see how it affects the clipping too, if at all. Unsure why that was affected at all. It's being encoded by the GPU, is there a way to know if your GPU is not maxing or performing as it should be?

Sorry, I'm not sure about the meaning of "clipping." It seems to refer to how the graphics card receives data from the CPU, and if the CPU isn't working well, it might impact the graphics performance.

When playing FPS games, I rely on clipping software to capture highlights, but the quality has deteriorated regardless of the settings I apply, suggesting a potential problem with the CPU or GPU.
