You seem fairly balanced right now. Are there any observations that are encouraging this change or simply making you want to upgrade?

The 6700xt works for 1440p, but a higher-tier card would perform better. You might also consider keeping the GPU a little longer and upgrading your platform.

I notice my CPU is reaching high usage during games and I've closed some background programs to stop it. For the GPU, I believe it's functioning normally (my most recent upgrade was a GTX 1070).

You could always switch to a new platform. It’s about choosing between a 5700/5800x3d or going full upgrade if you’re investing heavily in a CPU. For a value boost with two extra cores, you could opt for a 5700x under 200. If you’re close to MicroCenter, they offer a 7800x3d deal with a board and 32GB RAM for 500. They also have the same offer with the 7700x for 400. These are some good alternatives.

It seems they have the 7900 graphics card for a 550 system. The main concern with the 4070 is whether increased game complexity will exhaust the 12GB of VRAM in the future.

Take a look, the 7900 gre is quite similar to the 4070 super.

7800xt mb? The title mentions they are comparing the 7900gre with the 4070 super. It seems they used a 7800x3d in their test machine.
Here’s another review.
