I'm evaluating a potential upgrade for my current setup. I'd prefer a more capable machine but don't require an extremely powerful one. I'm comfortable handling games at lower graphics settings.

I've noticed many laptops in the 4070/4060 H and HX lines, yet they all seem overly advanced for my needs—typical use such as YouTube, browsing, art projects, or light gaming. My familiarity with laptop specifications is limited, so I'm seeking a modest improvement in performance.

Currently, I own an Intel® Core™ i7-8565U CPU (MSI ps63 Modern).

What's your budget?
: Approximately $1300 (flexible)

What notebook size are you thinking about?
: 15.6/16 inches

What resolution do you prefer for the screen?
: Not applicable

Are you looking for a portable or desktop replacement?
: Portable

How important is battery life to you?
: More is better

Do you plan to use your laptop for gaming? If yes, please list the titles and the settings you'd like (Low, Medium, or High):
: None AAA, Low/Medium settings

What other activities do you want to perform on your laptop? (Photo editing, Video editing, etc.):
Graphic Design, General tasks
How much storage space do you require?
: 512GB or more

If you have specific retailers in mind, feel free to share their links:
Best buy?

How long do you intend to keep the laptop?
: As long as possible

What type of optical drive do you need? (DVD ROM/Writer, Bluray ROM/Writer, etc.):
: Not applicable

Could you mention any brands you favor and any you dislike, along with your reasons?
: N/A

Which country are you located in?
: USA

Any further details you'd like to share?:
I'm hoping for a laptop with a glass-top trackpad.

Could you clarify what you mean by this? I’d like to know more about the improvement in power you’re considering.
It might be worth looking into purchasing a mid-range laptop with integrated hardware that could last for a long time. One thing to keep in mind is that a vertical upgrade may be better than a horizontal one.
Please format your thread with the details from this discussion;

This refers to the idea of improving performance by upgrading vertically rather than horizontally. What do you understand by that?

Before your revised information, it seemed you were considering a laptop upgrade that offered slightly more power without changing the overall hardware, which would be a horizontal improvement. You’re thinking about moving up a few steps vertically, keeping the same device for longer. I’ve focused on these options. These models should remain functional for several years—around five years according to my estimates—and you’ll still be able to run your applications smoothly.

Graphic Design
There are many tools available for graphic design. Listing specific names would be helpful, but these laptops can handle almost any software, including demanding ones.

Indie games often suffer from poor optimization, so you might encounter occasional stutters or glitches. You’d prefer a device with a glass-top trackpad.

I understand this point well—I’m aware that most laptop trackpads come with plastic surfaces.

Yeah, I'd like one that would be a good upgrade to the one I have now that's correct. Thanks for the suggestions; I was more wondering what CPU to look for when doing my laptop search, rather than laptop suggestions themselves. Like would I want to be looking for one with an H or HX or keep looking at ones with a U processor?
I neglected mentioning names because I can't tell what will set off the filters when replying, sorry about that. I'd be using ClipStudioPaint mostly
I haven't had many issues with indie games, mostly the ones on the larger sized end will be laggy.

Would I prefer a model featuring an H or HX, or continue searching for options with a U processor? Maybe check this out: https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/tech-...a-low power ,Power-optimized for desktop PCs
