The i7-2600 is a pretty old processor. While it’s still functional, it’s likely creating a bottleneck with your GTX 1070 – especially when playing modern games. Your motherboard (MS-7676) is also quite dated. The 8GB of RAM might be sufficient for basic tasks but could limit performance in more demanding applications.

Honestly, upgrading your CPU and potentially your RAM would make a huge difference. A newer mid-range processor like an Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 would pair much better with the GTX 1070 and allow you to utilize its full potential. Adding another 8GB of RAM (bringing it up to 16GB) would also be beneficial.

It’s probably not enough just to upgrade the CPU; the entire system is aging together.

That CPU might be a bit slow for the GTX 1070 in some games.
You might have found one!
A faster CPU would probably fix that.

I think that CPU might be a bit slow for the GTX 1070 in certain games.
That’s great news! You’ve found one.
A faster CPU should help with that.

Reduce brightness, disable unnecessary animations, close unused apps, limit background activity.

I think the best way to find out is to try it and see what you get. In general, lowering settings should lower CPU usage. You could cap your fps at 60 if you haven’t already.
