What are your thoughts on the 9900k overclock?
It works well with a 6-core setup. It runs at 5.1ghz using 1.34v. I can push it further on the GPU side, though my overclocking is set to avoid freezing certain games. I’ve already overclocked the i7 8086k and i9 9900k, which are the most reliable chips I own. The i7 2600k and i7 6700k often crash in games, but with these higher-end models the issues are mostly limited to the graphics card.
At 5.1 ghz with full power for one hour on realbench, reaching up to 89°C. In regular gaming sessions, temperatures stay around 73°C.
It seems you're approaching the limits of silicon theory. It looks like you've hit what's currently possible. This could be a very efficient device.
This 9900k is quite impressive. I should have known it would only run on a single bench. The AC was pushed to around 50f.
I used that bench and kept the room temperature low, adjusted the AC to 50°F, but it felt like about 63°F. I only tried it once since I didn’t want it to get damaged.
Back in the day, my 3770k could reach 4.8ghz consistently. But I had to replace it. My 8700k only managed 4.8delided.
