My room temperatures are around 33-35C. What typical temperatures should I expect while gaming on Gaming.I? With an i7 7700k at 4.80Ghz and nzxt kraken x61 running at 75% fan speed in an nzxt h 440 case, the temps are currently 75-85C during games and about 38-40C when idle. Is this normal?

You may need to update it to version 4.7. Running it there is possible but exceeding 80 is like ignoring the governor—either slowing it down or hitting the chip's thermal limit. It can still be affected, but causes too much stress. Aim for peak temperatures around 80°C or lower; that will keep you in good shape. A difference of just 4.7-4.8 matters little and won’t cost you much for a better result. Alternatively, use the air conditioner or install a window unit for that space and seal it shut.

Everything seems correct. I'm running 70-75°C with prime95 v26.6 thermal testing at a room temperature of 22-23°C. I idle at 26-30°C. Your room temperatures are roughly 10°C higher than mine, your settings are similar to mine, and you seem to have about 10°C less under load compared to me.

Thanks for your reply, mate! I just assembled my first PC and was concerned about any mistakes during the build. Are these temperatures suitable for extended gaming sessions?

You may need to update to version 4.7. Running it there is possible but exceeding 80 is like ignoring a car's governor without hitting the brakes. The issue arises when you surpass the thermal limit of the chip, which can cause excessive wear. Aim for peak temperatures around 80°C or lower; this will yield better results. A small difference between 4.7 and 4.8 won't matter—better performance is worth the trade-off. Alternatively, consider using an air conditioner or a window unit in that room and seal it shut.
