What are the two essential items to verify right away?
After buying and/or setting up your system to verify it meets specifications, hardware checks are essential. I often overlook confirming that the advertised specs align with reality. What else should be verified? Conducting various tests would be helpful. One suggestion is to check if certain cores are acting strangely or overheating compared to others. This approach can be implemented through different methods, including Cinebench (though other options exist). It’s unclear when to determine if a core is defective. Before making adjustments, it’s wise to assess the situation first. If you suspect a problem, consider returning the system to the seller or manufacturer.
You shouldn't necessarily need to run tests, etc. immediately after assembling or receiving a PC except if you are benchmarking via Cinebench or otherwise.
There is a difference between running diagnostics, etc. and benchmarking for performance metrics.
If so, not enough research was done before purchase of either parts/manufacturer/company to provide peace of mind of reliability of products being used.

Prioritize stability above all else.
Post-assembly, I prefer running memtest for a brief verification. A complete test without any errors makes it a straightforward hardware validation.
I would open Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free).
Run each tool one at a time.
Goal is to observe what’s running and understand system performance.
Take a few screenshots for later reference.
Do this before installing apps or utilities.
If issues appear, you might spot the problem quickly.
