What are the optimal BIOS and Windows configurations for the Ryzen 9950X3D?
I focus on getting the top performance and stable results from my CPU for demanding games, especially strategy and RTS titles. I have PBO enabled, Expo 2 activated, and RAM set to 6000MHz. I’ve seen some advice about disabling Hyper-Z, SVM, and core isolation, but what else should I consider? Should I pay attention to those details?
Maybe consider undervolting to reduce temperatures, but otherwise I believe you're fine. Talking about temperatures, what cooling solution are you using and what readings do you observe when the system is under load? Could you share the make and model of your motherboard? Also, what BIOS version are you running for that board?
Curve optimiser configured at -30, test it. If successful, it should be stable; otherwise lower the undervolt and retest. Continue this process until stability is achieved. PBO should use motherboard power limits. Adjust processor speed override to +200, but note the real-world impact is minimal. The CPU performs well with default settings. The undervolt curve optimiser helps reduce heat and power consumption. Enabling it is necessary for accessing the curve optimiser. If you have time, experimenting with “curve shaper” offers finer control over undervolt adjustments. Check Scatterbench on YouTube for a clear explanation.
Hey there. The default PBO settings are active or possibly the Expo 2 configuration isn't clear. I'll try those you suggested. It works fine even if it runs, but adjusting them could help reduce heat. As for the other three options I read about—disabling SVM, core isolation, and Hyper-V—shouldn't need any changes.
Gigabyte/Aorus made a similar adjustment, turning off one CCD and disabling SMT. Certain tests revealed better performance, while others indicated a decline. Access required via BIOS, meaning switching from "turbo" to standard mode necessitated a complete restart. Not very convenient…
