When discussing myself, it usually concerns the I/O backplate. I've missed putting them in. More serious is trying to get the system up and running only to find one of those tension spring components inside a USB port.

I'm wondering if it damaged the USB port and whether it would be difficult to remove the tension spring from it.

I had a good chance of it happening twice, but it only stopped the port. The main problem is that I had to shut down the system, remove the motherboard, and then fix it.

I must admit, I’m not very keen on assembling a PC myself. I’d rather not invest over $1000 and then end up making mistakes during the build process. I understand people might think it’s silly, but I know this forum is there for exactly that reason.

Purchasing an Asus motherboard for my own project.
First one arrived damaged and required a simple RMA.
The board took a few months to arrive, then had to use Asus warranty.
I sent the board twice just to get the same one back, but nothing was fixed.
Told them it didn’t fit and they replaced it with an MSI model.

Adjusted the screws on my CPU cooler excessively, now my PC has an equal chance of booting or encountering ERROR CODE FF with no boot. It's not worth opening it to fix, since only three of the four screws are holding, and the fourth one is missing its nut.

Fixed five new PCs without using standoffs. The company that made them didn't receive RMA approval when everything went wrong, damaging the motherboards and attempting to charge the customer. This is when I was brought in to handle the repairs.

I handled it myself. We had a pretty intense argument with the wife almost 48 hours ago. After that, she wouldn't stop talking so I ended up having a couple of beers. My son came over and mentioned his PC was acting strange—could I assist him? I shut down his PC and went to remove the GPU. In that moment, I noticed he was still running. I destroyed his GPU. When I walked over to my PC, I saw it was working again after my new 7800GT fixed it. I waited a while before doing anything else. My kids come first.

this build uses motherboard screws that are partially exposed. bent motherboards resemble pretzels because they were forced into the AMD retention bracket without securing them properly with screws before mounting the case. issues may arise if ram stops working. a damaged pcb near the 24-pin area could occur from bending the board during installation of the 24-pin connector.
