What are the effects of 7700 (Non-K) at 100°C?
Recently, my processor (Core i7-7700) has been working nonstop at high temperatures while rendering or gaming. I suspect the issue stems from the thermal paste hardening into a chalk-like state. I’ve ordered a replacement NT-H1 from Amazon, but it’s expecting a week delivery. How risky is it to keep the CPU at 100°C? I understand thermal throttling occurs near that temperature, but could prolonged exposure damage the chip?
Attempt to boost the fan and steer clear of heavy loads until the paste arrives.
What cooler is available right now? If it's the stock one, you might skip the thermal paste and opt for a new cooler—especially since the built-in Intel cooler isn't helping much on a 7700. You can also save it for future upgrades.
Thermal paste isn't the problem. Even with the provided low-quality "Intel Box Cooler," the CPU cores should never reach 100°C, let alone 90°C. Likely the cooler is faulty or improperly installed—check if all four pins are correctly seated.
The timeline should be faster than expected. Recently, the items I’ve ordered have been taking about a week to arrive and then arriving within a few days.
Recently faced an unexpected challenge, requiring about a week and potentially taking a month to resolve.
The Hyper 212 LED is still working, but the backplate came off during installation. I've sent an email to CM requesting a replacement, but haven't received a response yet.
