The H265 is a major problem with DaVinci. In addition to the overwhelming UI, it won't open my videos. That is why I have to convert the video from my gopro to get them to open in DaVinci. Or, I can pay MS for the codec.
I still don't understand why DaVinci insists on that when the videos will open fine in MPC or VLC. They will also open with an old version of Any Video Converter. I downloaded Shotcut today to give it a test drive. It also does not have an issue with the videos. It seems like DaVinci wants you to buy the pro version, which I assume might open the videos, or they have something going on with MS for some kind of kickback. One extra step with DaVinci for no reason.
And it works on Win 10 as well. As you mentioned, it's not included.
