I've used my Gen 1 13.5" Surface Laptop for four years... it's been great but it's time to upgrade. This is my "couch" laptop, mainly used for browsing, some office tasks, and occasional low-end games. I believe it's time to replace it, but I'm unsure what to choose. My initial idea was to go for the Gen 4 model... however, aside from performance improvements, not much has changed. According to what I've read, the screen update hasn't really occurred.

I appreciate the compact size and lightweight design of the Surface. I'm looking for something comparable. I've thought about moving up to an XPS for a bit more gaming capability, but that's not my top priority. I already have a high-end desktop for that. The XPS screen is impressive, and I might prefer a 15" model, though it would be heavier. I've looked at the Zenbook S, but I really don't want to reduce the size further—actually, I'd prefer a slight increase.

Any other recommendations? Has the screen improved on the Gen 4 Surface compared to the original model?

Thanks!

This is basically the same size as your current Surface Laptop, 13.3" vs 13.5"
