What are some excellent free games to try?
Noticing Roblox's current state, I'm searching for engaging free games to feature on my YouTube channel that keep viewers interested.
To access free games, obtain a Steam account. If you occasionally have around $5 to $10, it's essential to have one.
League of Legends and Legends of Runeterra offer free access.
Some newer titles are less recognized but enjoyable for card or auto-battler enthusiasts.
Marvel Rivals is currently popular in the hero shooter scene.
Many Battle Royale games are also available at no cost.
Otherwise, I’m not very confident.
I could recommend emulation since there are many valuable older titles.
For budget-friendly options... I don’t know much about your preferences, but I’m familiar with several solid indie games priced around 20€ or less, especially during sales.
In the action genre, check out Astral Ascent, Enter the Gungeon, Binding of Isaac, Streets of Rogue, Hades, Slay the Spire, Monster Train 1-2, Metroidvania Hollow Knight, and Ori and the Blind Forest.
For farming or relaxing, try Fields of Mistria, Stardew Valley, Outward, Outer Wilds (those two stand out).
Are there any flexibility points between "free" and "nearly free"? If you've played Diablo, Grim Dawn is a great experience and worth your system. There are many similar titles, some of which are available for free. CSGO and comparable games still have strong appeal and could add value to your streaming presence. Rainbow Six...The Division (1) and a fair number of older Tom Clancy games also fit this category. I don’t remember Rocket League being free, but it should run smoothly on most systems. DOTA2 is another solid choice. Fortnite is probably the most popular among used systems, with high demand and strong performance expectations. My experience suggests that even with limited specs, the game remains enjoyable, though the recommended settings are often beyond typical hardware capabilities. Honestly, I wouldn’t miss out on Minecraft either—my friend’s son streams it regularly, and there’s a lot of interest among teens. I’m making some general assumptions based on this context. For other ideas, you might explore channels of other game creators to see what they’re doing. In terms of budget, my personal favorites include Toasty Bros., who provide thorough reviews and benchmarks for affordable setups that could suit your needs. Tech Yes City was also strong in this area, though Bry has shifted more toward V-Blog recently.
Haha, thanks
😛
When you dive into indie titles and aren’t shy about pixel art or retro-style games, you’ll find plenty of hidden gems. The action games I mentioned belong to the Roguelite style, which revolves around restarting after each completion or loss, but with extra rewards and randomized elements. It’s built to encourage frequent deaths, yet the maps and loot remain unpredictable—kind of like playing Diablo from level one to one hundred in half an hour.
Here are some more suggestions:
Action RPG
Secret of Grindea
Crosscode
(If Secret of Mana stirs your memories, these are a perfect match)
RPG
(Combat based on turns)
Undertale – though it’s quite different, its music is amazing
Octopath Traveler
I also enjoyed Star Renegades, even though it’s hard to pin down exactly what genre it fits into. It features a turn-based strategy system, so I’d say it leans toward strategy games.
Additionally, I tried my hand at Slice and Dice from itch.io – a roguelite that uses dice rolling. My brother was instantly hooked!
And if you bring up Grim Dawn, it’s best to discuss Path of Exile 1 and 2 instead.
For documentation purposes...
Emulation doesn't mean free access, you must still have the right to own the games you play; otherwise, streaming illegally obtained ROMs could cause issues. The same applies to so-called abandoned games—if you don't possess the original physical copy, it poses a risk.
