I've really liked Shadow of Mordor so far, but the combat for big enemy groups feels too simple. I experimented by disabling all prompts and enemy outlines to see the impact—I love the changes now. It improves the visuals and makes the battle more challenging since you have to focus on each opponent. Are you using the standard settings? Or did you turn off the button guidance completely, like me? Check out this Quick ShadowPlay clip of combat in a stronghold without prompts—it looks much better without them.

I'm still experimenting with prompts, maybe I'll disable them soon. I've faced several tough captains who attack me at once (4-6 at a time), so I'm not too worried about difficulty yet. The production quality and visual design are impressive, but the story feels rushed. Adding another 5-6 missions would have helped stretch the narration, especially more details about the wraith early on. Overall, I tend to rush through challenges and try to eliminate Uruks in embarrassing ways.

Groups are just fucking annoying when you're trying to interrogate someone. Other than that, stealth <3. Oh,and the upgrade which stuns people when you jump over them(space+space) is super awesome.

These instructions can be adjusted whenever I receive the game. I aim for a neat appearance.

The prompts offer unique twists, giving special moves and surprises you won’t find elsewhere.

A precise strike will ignite your blade or something similar. It’s unrelated to fire; it’s a tactic that instantly kills ordinary enemies and causes significant damage to powerful leaders. No, it just highlights when to react and avoid. Also, it informs you about the enemy's alert status.

If you view the video, you'll notice the blade turns blue when an action is ready. The prompts act like big icons above enemy heads that say "RIGHT CLICK NOW" before they strike. Disabling them forces you to monitor threats and prepare blocks during attacks.

Great to hear! I’m hoping the game will be on sale during the Steam winter promotion, and I’ll grab it then. Or maybe in the new year it’ll be cheaper once I’ve updated my setup.
