I’m having trouble adjusting to 60 hz again. I’ve been using 144hz for a few months, purchasing it because I wanted to play games like CSGO at that speed. However, my PC seems to be underperforming sometimes, and I only get around 100 fps, which is quite choppy and makes the game unplayable. I decided to revert back to 60 hz. I’ve heard it’s difficult to adapt to that frequency. I tried playing GTA V at 30 fps locked, then switched to 60 fps after a while—it felt much better than before, though not as smooth as before 60 hz. When I played Rocket League, it looked so poor, like only 20 fps. If anyone knows how to get used to 60 hz again, please let me know—I’d really appreciate it. Also, I have a question: why do videos on YouTube that run at 60 fps look so smooth, and when I connect my controller and play at 60 fps, it works perfectly? I also experimented with changing the monitor frequency from 144hz to 60 hz, but nothing changed.

There are a few possible reasons for this. You might not be using identical settings—like "ultra" versus "low"—which can affect how each person perceives motion blur or texture quality. Shadows may appear more pronounced, while textures look softer. Resolution plays a role too, though it’s not the sole factor. Your hardware might not be performing optimally; verify the clock speeds of both your cards and the benchmark results you’re using.

You're facing a similar issue, but if your computer isn't hitting 144Hz, consider turning on free-sync or g-sync.

Yeah, I gave it a shot, but it didn't work. Whether I enabled free sync or not, any game that doesn't hit 120 fps (some run at 100) still looks pretty rough.

Eventually, it could be necessary to replace your GPU to achieve the desired outcomes.

I might have some issues with frame pacing. In a rare case, two frames could be produced consecutively every 30 Hz, which would be logged as 60 FPS since 60 frames were created, but it won’t appear smooth at that rate.
The CPU appears to struggle with high frame rates and may become unstable when something demanding occurs.

You assumed this, but prior to reaching 144hz everything was fine at 60hz.

I watched a benchmark video on YouTube and noticed others achieved much higher FPS than me with the same hardware. For instance, Fortnite usually gives me around 80-144 FPS, while many others reach 200+ FPS. I own this PC for just a couple of months.

There are a few possible reasons for this. The settings you're using might differ between you and your partner—what feels great to one person could be too much for another. Motion blur and texture quality can vary, and shadow detail might be higher than expected. Resolution plays a role, but it's not the only element affecting performance. Also, ensure your hardware is functioning correctly; verify the clock speeds of both your cards and the benchmark results you're using.

Yes, I understand it's different even with the same GPU but varying CPU. I always look at the settings others are using in the benchmark video. I'm sure my hardware isn't performing well, so I'll check the clocks and benchmarks later. Thanks for your reply and assistance.
