You have an AMD Ryzen 1600 CPU and a GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GPU, and you're considering the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X. Is that a suitable choice given your GPU?

Why do you want to make a change?
Reason: problems, performance, future growth?
Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.
PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, used, refurbished)?
Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?
Attached peripherals?

Documenting your hardware components is an excellent initial step. For systems using a 3xx chipset motherboard, it's possible you might not receive BIOS updates beyond the CPU in the future.

From a purely gaming perspective, unless you also improve the GPU, you won't see much benefit. The 5700x is significantly stronger than the 1600, but your 1660ti might limit your performance.

Purchase the 5600, refresh your BIOS, set it up, completed.

My setup (just for gaming, 6 years old):
Motherboard: Asus B450M Gaming
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2Ghz
GPU: GTX 1660 6Gb
PSU: Corsair ATX 600w
RAM: 2 x 8GB 2666Mhz DDR4
I plan to upgrade since the game performance is quite poor right now.

Make sure to update your BIOS using your current CPU model, and then proceed with installing the new CPU, as recommended.

When playing games, the impact will be minimal or nonexistent. You'll notice changes only in apps that utilize the extra cores in the 5700X.
