Hi guys, I'm experiencing significant frame drops in cs:go from around 250 to 90, which isn't a great experience. I'm using mat_queue_mode 2 and fps_max 0 (unlimited), which helped a bit but I think I can push the CPU further. Any suggestions on what to do?

you might consider trying bclk overclocking if your motherboard allows, though the chances are slim and many systems won’t support it, so the most reliable option is to upgrade.

It seems to occur only in this game or similar ones? Perhaps a recent update caused it, or maybe your older i5 is beginning to fail.

Yeah... it seems there aren't many ways to enhance it like that.

It's due to the high CPU demand of CS:GO.

I understand you're curious about the performance settings. It seems the game runs at 60% usage even when FPS_max is off, and you'd like to maximize its performance.

Yeah, I didn't pay much attention and I thought he was going at 250 fps before it dropped to 90

cpu usage varies in some games; i5 might not display full percentages like 100 or 80%, but an i7 usually offers better fps. The cpu has limits on what tasks it can handle simultaneously. If you run six processes and only have four cores, even simple tasks will slow down because the non-threaded cpu must switch between them, causing delays that reduce fps.

It's a case where a single thread is heavily consuming resources.
