What actions should be taken for upgrades?
Hi guys, this is my current setup -
MSI B-450 Gaming Pro Carbon MB
Ryzen 5600
corsair 3600 cl16
RX 570 graphics card
Super Nova 850 W G3
1080p monitor
Cooling works well with 9 fans and H150i Elite
What should I do next...?
Thanks, no big budget...
The setup works well for most tasks even without a newer GPU. You're asking about your goals and what the system is missing.
Nothing much, just enjoy building and tinkering during the winter. I figured I’d start upgrading for the future... My wife ordered me a GPU for my birthday, but I can still return it if needed.
7800XT performs well at 1440p and lower resolutions. You might want to consider a 7900XT during Black Friday or similar events, but the choice really depends on your budget. Anything faster than the 7800XT won't be worth it at 1080p. Great thought from your wife!
Upgrading the CPU could also be beneficial—while a 5600 is still solid, a 5800X3D offers more power. But again, unless you really need it, it might not add much value.
Discussing a switch to a new MB drive, B-650 model, and 7th generation processor... After that, consider the GPU and monitor next?
It's a possibility, but it might not be worth it at this resolution. Unless you intend to upgrade your monitor and GPU soon, I wouldn't make the effort. The 5800X3D offers around 80-90% of the performance of the 7800X3D with just a new motherboard and RAM. You might need a new heatsink, though, depending on what you're currently using.
I have the 6700xt spectral white hellhound, one of the most attractive GPUs out there, and the 7800xt along with the 5600 gives you a solid PC. You could add the 5800x3d later if you have enough budget!
