What about the optical drive and USB-C port?
What about the optical drive and USB-C port?
Hi,
This is the motherboard: Asus B550M-A Prime Wi-Fi II & Bluetooth (DDR4)
https://www.asus.com/motherboards-compon...m-a-wi-fi/
1. Is it good or necessary to buy a pc case with USB-C port at the top front of the pc case to future proof?
2. If the pc case does not have a USB-C port would it be ok to use a [USB-A male to USB-C female] adapter and plug into the USB-A 2.0 or USB-A 3.0 port at the top front of the pc case? Would the specs?/power?/current?/voltage? on the adapter act like a real USB-C port?
3. Is it true that the front USB-A port is lower specs?/power?/current?/voltage? than the USB-A port (soldered at motherboard) at the back of the PC case?
4. Would it be good to buy a pc case that has top front slot cutout for optical drive and put in a dvd drive? (case example: cooler master nr600 with odd, elite-300 case) ?
I guess with a dvd drive at the top front, the maximum front fan would be 2 instead of 3, not sure if that's bad for the temperature airflow cooling.
Thanks.
I only have one now and would like more. I plan to purchase a hub to boost my number. Most of my new devices already use them, and having one nearby would be useful too. That's just how the room is laid out. But I'm not getting off track.
Hub seems like a straightforward solution—no need for them, just a spare USB connection.
I don't have a solution for 2 and 3.
Do you require an optical drive? Most modern cases no longer have space for them. USB drives have largely replaced DVDs. Locate a case with USB C and drive ports, that's a limited number of options.
I observed several USB hub products. If I connect a hub into the PC case's front USB-A port, would I be able to link all available devices (port connections) of the hub and operate them simultaneously? For instance, if a hub transforms 1 USB-A into 3 USB-A and 2 USB-C, could I plug in a total of 5 devices (3 USB-A and 2 USB-C) into the hub at once?
