Earlier i was experimenting with overclocking to understand the process. (Really silly to just play around, I discovered this the hard way, no lectures please)
My screen would go black every time I tried to boot my PC and nothing happened. After about half an hour I managed to get my PC to turn on normally and reset my OC settings.
My question though, what causes both screens to go black and not detect video connections? What did I do when trying to overclock that led to this happening?

Unstable behavior often stems from manipulating clocks and/or ratios. A basic CMOS reset would have fixed the problem. Please avoid adjusting voltage settings.

Overclocking the CPU or GPU? Either way, increase gradually. You might have exceeded the safe limit.

There is an instability possibly linked to adjusting clocks and/or ratios. A basic CMOS reset would have fixed it. I hope you avoided any voltage adjustments. I modified the multiplier and ring ratio; I don’t recall the precise values, but it was a significant change. I’ll be more careful next time. Thanks.

Deniedstingray :
mcnumpty23 :
overclocking the cpu or the gpu?
in any case, increase gradually
likely you exceeded the limit on something
Sorry, I was adjusting the CPU speed.
Yes, go slower
and it's best to change just one thing at a time

Deniedstingray shared concerns about instability linked to clock adjustments and ratio changes. A basic CMOS reset might have resolved the problem. I’m hoping you avoided any voltage tweaks.

mcnumpty23 responded with questions about CPU or GPU overclocking, suggesting gradual adjustments and advising to focus on one change at a time. They mentioned they were overclocking the CPU and recommended patience.

Replies acknowledged the need for careful testing and emphasized understanding which component might be involved based on usage and cooling solutions.

Mcnumpty23 shared some advice about the issue. They mentioned instability possibly linked to clock adjustments or ratio changes, suggesting a simple CMOS reset might have helped. They also warned against changing voltage settings.
