It was placed inside the protective shell containing the CPU. Everything seems okay unless something crushed it or altered the connections.

I dropped the Athlon 64 3000+ quite a bit and it functioned properly afterward. I wouldn’t suggest throwing away your CPU, though a one-centimeter fall shouldn’t cause any damage.
